“After Djing for a couple of years my first solo project was The Red Ribbon Affair in The Pink Elephant. I remember it like yesterday. It was a huge event. Loads of Dublin DJs played at it. Stupidly I flew over Scott Braitwaithe from London for it too and no one even noticed.

“It was a charity benefit for Chairde, Irelands AIDS charity. I wanted to create a club night where there was no separatism. Gay and straight danced side by side. It was lovely to see everyone mix together. The scene was quite divided back then.

” Looking back at my time working in clubs, it was very hard to get treated fairly – as a woman, and as a dance music promoter. If I had a few quid for every time that I got ripped off, I’d be rich.”
